About the Medical Office Assistant Program

Medical Office Assistants play an essential role to the operation of any medical office.  Our program trains you to perform critical administrative duties, handle basic clinical tasks, maintain medical records, bookkeeping and working directly with patients to check their height, weight, temperature and blood pressure.

Program Learning Outcomes

As part of the Medical Office Assistant program, you will:

  • Gain the administrative, clinical and bookkeeping skills required to be successful as a Medical Office Assistant
  • Learn how to take accurate medical transcriptions
  • Learn how to properly take patients’ heights, weights, temperatures and blood pressures
  • Gain fundamental computer skills 
  • Learn proper business etiquette and how to handle patients both face-to-face and on the phone
  • Get certified in CPR
  • Receive the training required to work in hospitals, medical, chiropractic or dental offices across Alberta
